Msft was really the problem for everyone the whole time. They are the ones making everyone have a hard time. THANKS!!!
exactly, but many people are very quick to say that Creative is the cause of the problem. Actually, not only Creative MP3 players are affected by this microsoft bug. Many other MP3 players such as iriver, etc are reported to having this problem during their installation and this hotfix will also solve their issues.
MUCH MAHALOS!! I was having this problem with a new sandisk mp3 player I bought. I reformatted and installed media player 10 and the player worked. But after installing some other things (probably my codec packs and other media players such as classic and vlc) the same problem came back. I found this page, installed the file and it works! Wish I knew this fix before formatting last night, but it was needed anyway I'm sure :) THANKS!
yes, this is microsoft prob all right, and any mp3 player using windows is exposed to this problem. glad it works on you!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Unbelievably this actually works. I have a Trekstor i.Beat sweez fm and it was doing this exact thing. Thank you for the update on this! I was about ready to smash it against a wall!

Thank you so much, I was pulling my hair out! Worked with my daughter's ATMT N-Lite. Mucho Gracias!
Tried & it said a equivalent or newer version is already installed :(
Damn ZEN
hehe
Help?
Thanks, worked like a charm!
The User-Mode driver framework should at least be bundled with the driver though. Considering that the driver requires it to be installed...
Thank you so much. Now I can install Philips GoGear SA6086
Thanks for the fix, it works perfectly!
It actually worked. I was at my wit's end! Thanks so much!
You are the BEST!!!
Muah! I wasted 6 hrs total (in 2 days) trying to find a fix till I stumbled upon this solution! Thanks a lot.My MP3 player finally gets read on my PC.Lovely...but on a precautionary note, Im never buying Samsung again!
Thanks so much for the fix. Worked like a charm. My new Zen X-Fi was not being recognized by my PC (Windows XP with all updates) nor the Creative software. Updating the drivers gave me the "...Inf is invalid..." error message. Found this web page -- thankfully only an hour or two into my search for a fix -- and downloaded the Microsoft file and ran it. Then when I went to the device manager to update my drivers, everything worked perfectly!
Me too! Had the problem with Zen Sleek Photo. Installed the Microsoft file, and all's well!
GREAT! Many thanks! Had this problem and couldn't get the solution from Creative's Support but this did it! wooohooo!
Thank you so much!! finally got this to work when i installed it. Many thanks
many thanks
when I wrote to customer support at zen they referred me to a site with tutorials on how to write my own drivers, which is quite a bit over my head.
Now the device works without even installing the software from the CD

THANK YOU! I was so annoyed, surfing through forums and looking for help, and the answer was so simple, uh. Thanks, really.
You are the fricken' best!!!! This has been driving me crazy & Creative "support" was crap! the wouldn't help!!!!
THANK YOU!!!! Spent hours and hours, almost gave up, then I found this site and your solution.
I had a Logitech H330 doing the same on my Xp SP3 notebook. It uses the generic USB AUDIO driver provided by Microsoft so Logitech has no drivers.
The file posted above does not work for XP SP3 - it says a newer version is already installed on the system.
The problem is that Microsoft's OWN usb audio driver is fucked up for some reason, probably with a service pack or another windows update. Another version could help. I have managed to fix it in the following way.
REMEMBER THAT THIS IS FOR STUFF USING THE GENERIC USB AUDIO DRIVER ONLY! (usbaudio.sys)
1. Plug the device into a different PC, where it installs just fine.
2. Search for the file wdma_usb.inf. It should be in C:\WINDOWS\Inf.
3. Copy this file to a pendrive.
4. Plug in the device again in the computer where id didn't work.
5. When prompted to install the driver, chose Install manually, and give the pendrive as a location for search.
(6. If you are not prompted, search for the device with the yellow exclamation mark in the Device manager, right click it and select Update driver)
That did the trick for me!
thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To Jimmyboy8 (poster of solution above). I have got to thank you for posting your experience in solving the INF driver issue. The great thing about this solution is that it is so simple!
I have a BlackBerry Storm. Recently, I uninstalled the Desktop Manager thinking that it is conflicting with Nokia PC Suite. Since then even after reinstalling Desktop Manager, I can no longer install my BlackBerry Storm as an MTP Device under Portable Devices in Device Manager.
I have been installing and reinstalling different versions of Windows Media Player, thinking that it might solve the problem.
Luckily, I stumbled upon your post and I am super glad I did.
I highly recommend this as the first solution to MTP issues.
Good work!
yea its a simple and effective solution for any mtp devices, philips, samsung, blackberry, creative, etc
glad it works for ya! :)
I had the same problem with my Asus EEE Transformer TF101 - it said "A service installation section in this INF is invalid". I installed the microsoft usermode driver framework as you recommended, and sure enough it worked. Thanks so much!
as shown by the compliments above, this solution applies to all electronic products and not restricted to creative products.
Glad you get it working :)
YES it works !
Atleast for philips goger MP3
Thanks.
oh yea oh yea.. keep it coming :)
Thanks alot man.. AWESOME!
