Solution 1:
1. Follow the steps stated in Solution: Media Explorer Stated That My Zen Is Not Detected/Connected
2. If Step1 does not work, then try the 'Install from Location' method:

Right click on the player in device manager and select update driver. Select the second option which reads along the lines of "install from a specific location (advanced)". Now insert the installation CD and close the autorun program that loads to install the creative software.
Now select "Next" on the update driver window and then on the next screen, there should be an option to search a drive. Select the CD drive and then click next.
This process should complete the process and successfully install the driver(s) for the player to work.
Solution 2:
This solution was contributed by Creative Fan Annyo from myCreative Fansite Forum who solve this problem by shutting down your computer and turn it off at the main switch on the wall for a few minutes. The reason is that switching the computer off at the mains allows any residual current on the motherboard or any stray capacitance to discharge.
Try this solution, seems weird , can't believe it works!

Didn't work for me. I've got two identical Zen V's, one with 1.11.01 firmware that is recognized by XP, and one with 1.07.02 that isn't. The player that isn't recognized seems to work fine, plays music all day long. I just can't put anything new on it :^(
i thk the latest firmware is 1.15.xx, you could try to update the one that is 1.07.02 using Creative Automated Update Firmware tool stated in http://xxmycreativexx.blogspot.com/2007/06/access-rescue-moderecovery-mode-on-zen.html
