X-Fi Mobile For Smartphones?

X-Fi Mobile For Smartphones?
In a previous article Creative Labs talk about X-Fi MB which is a software version of X-Fi replacing the current hardware X-Fi sound card. Due to the high speed processor/ CPU of current days motherboard, it is possible to process audio in software version and there is no need for bulky hardware such as a sound card.

Recently at World Mobile Congress 2008, when Nokia announced that it would adopt Dolby Mobile and in fact showcased a demonstration of the software on one of its N95 smartphones. Dolby Mobile includes a post-processing licensing package (Mobile Surround, Natural Base, and Sound Expander) supporting mobile audio, video and TV sources. “Mobile Surround” is backed by a fully-fledged software equalizer that works in conjunction with the “Sound Expander”, algorithms that simulate a surround effect.

If Dolby can go mobile and Creative Labs is already talking about X-Fi MB, we don't see why the X-Fi Mobile is not in the product roadmap :) We see a large potential in the mobile area if Creative Labs is able to license out its X-Fi technology to the smartphones be it Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung or even Apple iPhone.

The other time, we heard that Creative Labs is going to pursue its ZEN patent against major phone makers and we still have not heard anything from them yet :)

given the heavy power requirement and complexity of x-fi sound, it may be possible to produce a lesser x-fi called x-fi zen to be onboard zen mp3 player. just like a x-fi mobile or x-fi MB, just speculating
