Solution: Creative Centrale Cannot Open Or Start



Problem: The Creative Central software don't start. No error message from the software but there is an error report from Windows.
AppName: centrale.exe
AppVer: 1.0.8.0
ModName: discpmgr.dll
ModVer: 1.0.2.0
Offset: 000046fd

Solution: This can be resolved by downloading SoftwareUpdate_PCApp_LA_1_01_02.exe. Go to creative's website and click on support. Click on Mp3 Players and look for your product model which can be a ZEN X=Fi or Mozaic. Afer clicking on the product, it will open a page where you can find the latest downloads for your device. Look for Creative software update 1.01.02 under Application.

Alternatively, you can download myZenDriver for ZEN X=Fi and ZEN Mozaic here which will contain the latest version of this software.

This solution does not work. I have the same problem. It is because Creative wrote this software using out-of-date Microsoft MFC. Microsoft doesn't even use this junk anymore.

hmm, how did you know its an outdated mfc?

Because the debugger pops up and opens to the line of code causing it, which happens to be the call to the main function in a MFC application. And because I have been programming MS apps for 20 years and have a Ph.D. in Computer Science.

Hi, it used to work perfectly on my computer updtaes and all untill I installed another program but can't remember which. That is what is causing the conflict I'm sure. Not much help I know...

yes, sometimes new applications will spoil the soup. Press Start > All Programs > the last entry is usually the latest application installed. see if you can uninstall it
