IGN Reviews the Creative Fatal1ty Professional Series MK II Gaming Headset

IGN Reviews the Creative Fatal1ty Professional Series MK II Gaming Headset

Creative’s latest high end Gaming Headphone Headset the Fatal1ty Professional Series Mark II, gets reviewed by IGN at E3. One of the main distinctive features about this headphone headset is it’s Silencer technology. This is what IGN had to say about the Silencer feature:

Creative's big marketing push for the Mk II's is it's Silencer feature, which intelligently filters ambient and environmental effects through voice communications...but only if you have Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium sound card. The Silencer works through the use of two microphones built into the removable boom mic -- one on the tip, another on the ear cup joint. The X-Fi Titanium sound card then takes the two signals, identifies the background noise, and filters it out of the outgoing audio signal, reducing the outside noise for those you are communicating with. Creative was kind enough to provide us with two headsets and two X-Fi Titanium cards, and we won't deny it, the difference was clear.

So there is a catch here. The Silencer feature works perfectly only if you have an X-Fi Titanium SoundBlaster Card or equivalent. Provided you have the gears with you, the experience is worth while.

Overall, IGN loved the Audio Quality and welcomed the innovative new features quite well. However they did find them less comfortable for their tastes. As Creative themselves spend quite a lot of time in the design and comfort of these headphones, you’d have to check these headphones in person to figure that out.

Rating: 7.7 (out of 10)
