Mediabook is the next big thing. Multi-touchscreen, high resolution, fast response, high end audio and video capability, long battery life, tightly integrated with the web and content publishers. It will soon replace all printed form of newspapers/magazines/books/textbooks/notes/brochures/pamphlets, DVD and multimedia. Creative shares rally soon after the news was released by The Straits Times late last year. Unfortunately, a drought of news, lack of analysts’ coverage plus continued bleeding caused the rally to turn bearish till yesterday.

From a chart technical analysis point, Creative has hit major bottom. It has been strongly oversold. Fundamentally, I believe Creative has hit bottom too. There will be continued bleeding until major Zii products and Mediabook enter the mass market. But by then, I doubt it will be the S$5.01/5.02 price that I bought in these few days. It will probably see sustained double digits at least and under coverage of major broking houses. Most other companies have massive increase in free float due to rights and warrants to raise money and their stock prices have been up and up in this bull market as their fundamentals improve and broking houses initiate or reinitiate coverage. In contrast, Creative's free float has reduced significantly due to massive share buy backs and once their fundamentals improve, it will see an explosive growth run in terms of stock prices and confidence.

MDA, Creative and local publishers know they have to collaborate early and quickly and it will be a win-win-win for all. Otherwise, Singapore will ultimately lose out. MDA grant for Creative is likely to be significant as Creative has to develop the hardware, OS, fine tune user-interface, add applications to it. Financially, Creative does not really need the grant as it still has around S$4.95 cash per share. The grant is more like morale boost. Even more important is the collaboration with content publishers. The collaboration brings local content including education content for Singapore students/teachers/learners and content is crucial to setting the de facto standard in Singapore and subsequently to other regions when international content comes in. Remember Singapore education system is world class and leading. Whatever it adopts will be significant.

Innovation is the key. For example, it used to be only Microsoft, at one time so big (US$600 billion market cap.) that the US almost wanted to break it up. But now it is a three corner fight: Microsoft, Apple and Google.

Buy Creative on its major turnaround, like OSIM. Buy on investment in Singapore's future and continued success. It is not too difficult to buy Creative shares now (people cannot wait to dump the shares at my queue order, like some preset computer generated sell order), even today, as people generally do not envisage anything good down the road and have no patience to wait. Holders of Creative irrespective of what prices they bought should hold on unless in dire need of cash. If they turn around, I do not see why the all time high of S$69.50 (28 Mar 2000 during the dot-com boom) cannot be breached.

One last thing, all these are not news or insider information but analysis, foresight, speculation or my bet if you call it. Market is mainly speculation. The wise and patient investor wins.

Heard most of the talented employees quit Creative for other companies due to no salary increments or bonuses for past few years. Is that true?

Don't buy this cheap and nasty looking piece of rubbish.

you can get nearly as good from a pound shop.

very poor and tedious navigation system.
No expandable memory slot like other creative mp3 players.
on off button too easy to switch itself on.

very poor bass even with bass boost.

Very dis-appointed customer.
