I have been observing the trends in personal and consumer technology since Disk Operating System. Audio only plays a small part out of the whole thing. But it will be an essential part if you look at Intel's perpetual computing's potential. The only way for Creative Technology to continue as a viable company is to re-enter personal computing development. Tablet PC is only a small part of it. Integration of Creative's audio and video technology, mainly the Intel Creative Interactive Gesture Camera technology and Sound Blaster X Studio into future tablets, laptops and desktop PCs is their only hope. Since Creative has close working relationship with Intel now and has experience in developing tablets as well as desktop PCs, they should continue working with Intel chips as first priority and integrating their in-house technology to create next generations personal computing products.

CLOSING DOWN!!!!!! STARTING WITH ONE AND ONLY STORE AT HQ.

creative store at HQ closing down? then consumers can only buy from online?

Their HQ lease is up in 6 months' time. Any rational CEO will know what to do. To renew the lease, according to contract, inflation is super high, the new lease will be super expensive. In other words, lack the foresight, should not have sold building after all. They cannot afford to continue leasing after that. Either shift to cheaper location or sell everything. Should have sold patents to intel for more money than license. Not easy to find another intel, just like the 100mil from apple. Until now find no one. But shares likely to shoot up because soon there will be rumors.

Their Jurong HQ is bad feng shui for them. They should move to another place where they can reinvent things. Apple did not invent anything but they just got it reinvented. The times has passed for PC components. Now people seldom go there. People are looking for products like tablets, smartphones and smarttv. To survive, they just need to follow the trends and reinvent things. Let's see CES2013.

they can't move anywhere in Singapore because the office rental is super ex everywhere. maybe they can go to china. but sim should realise going to china is a severe mistake. you spent so much there and got nothing. in the end, intel pay you 50m. so it is wise to sell to America. maybe popular holdings is keen on creative knowledge, Huawei might be keen too as taking over creative will end the pending court case as well, get creative knowledge, hanzpad, patents. if sim put creative up for sale, there are many potential buyers. sound blaster itself can be worth 100m if big buyers integrate it. the ball is in sim's court.

a business should always control expenses according to income. no more big income so should give up the creative building to save precious money. with the money save can buy shops already.

There's no chance they can turnaround. Look at their R&D expenses vs their rivals. Their rivals are having 10 to 200 times their expenditure. You cannot keep any talent with little money. The only way out is to sell everything and return back to shareholders. No more stupid and risky adventure or risk your legacy entirely. You have used up all chances and has been proven WRONG repeatedly.

Tablet and smart phones aren't everything. smart TVs, smart household appliances, laptops, desktops will still need certain technologies that creative has.

they sold the expensive r&d in uk. if rebuild r&d in myanmar or india or china surely only fraction of cost.

it‘s a grave mistake that they sold ziilabs. It‘s their trump card and years of effort. I only see bad management and bad policy that ruin this company. they won‘t survive for long. what else can they sell in the market? PC era is over. They need an integrated solution to compete effectively. they have very blur and obstinate management that refuse to listen. serve them right for the grave mistake that they make which makes everyone hate them. they can‘t get drivers right, not to mention the rest. it‘s a very basic thing. microsoft also play a part to kill them when they remove the audio hardware acceleration since vista. Microsoft also kill alot of their competitors and partners. why the industry still wants to support them? why creative can‘t forget about microsoft. we just need a common platform. Apple show the way but it‘s not common. Android also show the way but it‘s not the common platform. A new platform to serve all will evolve eventually.

Anonymous said...

selling ziilabs uk is the only right thing they have made. if they sell everything they have now, shareholders can easily get 7 to 10 dollars a share.

Anonymous said...

There won't be common platform to serve all. US doesn't allow monopoly. Microsoft was held back by court cases, at least a few years. This allow google to appear and apple to rediscover. Creative once tried to create its own platform, known as Plaszma. There were complains that the source code is not available for Zii Egg users. It was abandoned subsequently. The cost for the Zii Platform is at least the HQ building they sold off. What the founder can do is to talk to potential buyers of Creative to get the best price and after the deal is sealed, use his own money to compensate shareholders. He will get a few hundred millions to continue whatever he wishes to.

Looks like u only interested in share profit gain and one time effort to gain. U not really a fan. I would suggest u sell yr stock now and buy more promising stocks. i don't see them getting out of the woods soon. In fact, the economic crisis in US and Europe which is their target market is very bad. Unless they do something different. Sell tablet, smart phone are more substainable in the long run. It is crisis proof as everyone needs to use it. Creative still don't get it. This is what Steve Jobs has been thinking when his company needs to turnaround. Haiz...

Common platform doesn't mean it's exclusive. In fact, it's opposite.

Only fools will sell their stock now.

BUY CREATIVE! CES2013! MARKET VERY SENSITIVE TO ANY GOOD NEWS SMALL OR BIG! THEY ARE NOT GOING TO MOVE OUT AS MOST OF CREATIVE RESOURCE IS LEASED TO OTHER COMPANIES.

Anonymous said...

ha ha ha all stocks shoot up except creative. Epic fail ha ha ha

Anonymous said...

sim finally cutting prices of sound blaster axx. but this cut is not enough to drive sales.

Anonymous said...

what is epic failed? please enlighten. thxs

Jane said...

Can anyone pls tell me what happened to sound blaster axx and hanzpad???

Anonymous said...

today's strong selling despite overall market rise explains itself ha ha ha

Anonymous said...

any more expensive money draining subsidiary to sell. with so much cash no need to do tech already. just buy cash generating assets and collect more cash. look at 2nd chance. buy slowly into small shops and now quite profitable also.old one at omaha did that also for a start.

Anonymous said...

they may want to sell away creative knowledge china

Anonymous said...

yesterday's sell off likely to be done by former creative labs president.

Anonymous said...

sim should offer S$7 exit offer, not too high but reasonable. those who want to cash out can get out. those who want to stay put can decline. let it delist. one day if sim can make it, creative can make it and can seek multiple worldwide listing anytime and anywhere they want. those that stay on will profit even more.

King Bling said...

Too bad this place won't live. Hopefully they will have a better end than HMV.

Anonymous said...

it depends on sim. he has wasted half a billion dollars and seems intent to use up the last 200 million. if he had invested that half billion in property, it will be worth 1 billion now.

Anonymous said...

Agreed. Property market seems to be hotter than selling audio peripheral devices. US and Europe are having economic crisis and people around the world are also spending lesser. Ever raising oil prices, global warming and environmental issues will make green energy related market hot in the coming decades too. Unless Sim can do better than Samsung and Apple, it's pretty difficult for Creative to survive. Even giants like Sony are declining.

Anonymous said...

very soon the market will be flooded with rumors. creative has no way out but to sell itself entirely while it has value.

Anonymous said...

poor sale yes. but it is more about matching expenses to income. their income has shrink a lot but the cost has not come down fast enough. if creative payout all cash to shareholders, maybe she will be wiser that losing money is not an option. the cash maot is the evil root of the complacency.

Anonymous said...

someone gives sim a slap to wake up. even big names like nokia, rim and sony cannot keep up with competition. give up, sim.

Anonymous said...

Sim does not understand simple math. The cost structure they have will never work. Gross margin of 24% will never cover R&D expenses. Even if they double their revenue, the selling expenses will double as well. But nothing to cover R&D expenses. Sim, it won't work. For so many years you even get simple math wrong. Give it up gracefully. Without R&D creative will be like china copycat and will have no new products or get sued in copyright countries.

Anonymous said...

Sim does not understand consumers. The moment you raise the price of products by 10 bucks they won't buy from you.

Anonymous said...

Window of opportunity opens for sim to act. Any takeover is likely to be well above S$7 a share. Share prices likely to head up as Chartists start to relook as creative share price start rebounding, creating a feedback boost. Despite continued failure of management, share price likely to sky rocket before CNY. However, once sim fails to act, all end in tears and his legacy will be forever gone. He needs to understand that if there is a takeover, he reaps hundreds of millions and together with his other large assets, he can still continue creating whatever dangerous hobby he like.

Anonymous said...

meh CREATIVE staff likely to be ripping off shareholders. no profit, low revenue, no exciting products and yet can claim bonus, good pay, benefits, etc. sound blaster axx attempts to rip consumers by selling at skyrocket prices but fail badly. to date, more sound blaster axx samples have been given out than actual sales. stocking up itself incur warehouse charges.

Anonymous said...

share of loss from associated companies at 643000. that is likely the loss from creative knowledge china. another rip off shareholders. wasting money in china producing nothing useful.

Anonymous said...

sim comes out of hiding, talk to reporters, accept interviews, tells of vision, the end result is also epic fail.

Anonymous said...

jimmy abandon the website. no news since christmas. so much cookies and ads still no income ... anonymous posts allowed yet no hits no income ..lols
